Avanti West Coast raise the bar for business travel

Avanti West Coast has invested close to £500m in a brand new fleet and the UK’s biggest ever train refurbishment programme. The result is more comfortable and sustainable travel from London Euston to the heart of some of Britain’s key business hubs, including Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool and Glasgow.

Launched in June 2024, the company’s new Evero fleet is a real game changer. The trains are designed to offer plenty of comfort and space onboard and expertly engineered to deliver cleaner, greener travel.

Sustainability is built in, with bi-mode trains able to switch seamlessly between diesel and electric power, significantly cutting carbon emissions. Onboard journey-changing innovations include ergonomic seats, improved WiFi, wireless charging and personal reading lights, so business travellers can enjoy many of the comforts of the office enroute. With 451 seats and extra tables on each train, there’s plenty of space to work, relax and recharge batteries, ready to arrive in great shape to do business.

Famed for tilting technology that enables high-speed travel on bends, Avanti’s iconic Pendolino fleet has been transformed in a £117m refurbishment programme. In total 574 coaches have been upgraded to good as new standard.

Together with Avanti West Coast’s brand new Evero fleet, the refurbed Pendolinos are bringing best in class rail travel to every inch of the West Coast Main Line.

As well as enjoying greater comfort onboard, business travellers who travel with Avanti West Coast can make a significant reduction in carbon emissions compared to other modes of transport. For example, a flight between London and Glasgow amounts to around 137 kg of CO2 per person. However, travelling by train reduces carbon emissions to around 20kg, nearly seven times lower.*

Fast tracking sustainability goals is rarely this simple. The company itself is set to be carbon neutral by 2031.
