Airport Update
Out of respect for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Heathrow will be making alterations to their operation throughout the period of national mourning. On Wednesday 14th September, some flights between 13:50 -15:40 will be disrupted to ensure silence over central London as the ceremonial procession moves from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall. The procession of Her Majesty the Queen’s coffin to St George’s Chapel in Windsor on Monday 19 September will impact local roads around Heathrow. Heathrow are advising passengers to consider alternative routes, such as the Piccadilly or Elizabeth Lines.
Covid Update
Japan reopens to tourists and relaxes COVID restrictions
Guests can now fly to Japan without a test if they’re fully vaccinated and have received a booster dose. Provided guests have the equivalent of three doses, a combination of different vaccines is accepted. Unvaccinated or partially vaccinated must do a quantitative antigen or PCR test at an accredited facility 72 hours before their first flight.

British Airways resumes flights from Gatwick to Las Vegas
British Airways plans to resume a direct service from London Gatwick to Las Vegas. The three-times-weekly service will begin on 23 March 2023 to 28 October 2023. The airline will be operated by the B777-200 aircraft.
easyJet to launch Belfast City to Glasgow
From 31 October 2022, easyJet will launch flights from Belfast City Airport to Glasgow. The service will operate three times weekly until 24 March 2023. The carrier is increasing its services from Belfast, following recent route launches from Northern Ireland to London Gatwick, Bristol and Liverpool. The airline will also launch flights to Bristol next month.
KLM premium Comfort is now available
KLM shares its latest travel class, Premium Comfort, the flight equipped with the Premium Comfort took off on 27 August 2022 from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport to New York – JFK. By the end of September, Premium Comfort will be available on the Boeing 787-10 and over time will also be available on the Boeing 787-9 aircraft.
A mangrove tree for every guest who books Economy Space
Etihad airlines have launched a new campaign, the Etihad Mangrove Forest, for every Economy Space seat booked on their flights. Etihad will plant a mangrove tree. Each mangrove plant alone will absorb up to 250kg of CO2 in its lifetime, the same amount produced by an eight-hour flight. Read more
American Airlines plans to enter a new supersonic era
American Airlines plans to enter the new supersonic era, with an order for 20 Overture jets from Boom Supersonic. The planes won’t begin carrying passengers until at least the end of the decade, aiming to fill a void when the Concorde stopped flying in 2003. The manufacturer plans for the aircraft to run on 100% sustainable aviation fuel.
easyJet offers lounge access to Flexi Fare customers at London Gatwick
easyJet has launched a trial to offer free lounge access to customers with Flexi Fare tickets for flights from London Gatwick’s North Terminal until 30 November 2022. Customers will be able to use the lounge daily for up to three hours from 6am.
Emirates to operate A380 with Premium Economy to five destinations
From December 2022, Emirates will be flying to five additional cities with its refurbished A380 jets, including the airline’s new Premium Economy seating.
Etihad airlines move to Doha airport
Etihad airlines have announced they will be moving to Doha International airport (DIA) temporarily until 30 December 2022. The authorities have requested this move as part of the preparations for the FIFA World Cup 2022. Etihad guests travelling to DIA must ensure they look into the visa requirements before flying to comply with the country’s requirements.
Stansted airport granted permission for a solar farm
London Stansted has been granted planning permission to develop a solar farm on land adjacent to the airport as part of its operations to net zero carbon by 2038. The development comes after the airport current and increasing electricity demand and including the use of electric vehicles.
