Dawid Malan hosts coaching session with future cricket stars in partnership with CTM Sport

 

Last week our partner, Dawid Malan, attended a cricket coaching session alongside CTM Sport at Lampton School in Hounslow.

During the coaching session, Dawid shared some tips and techniques with the students as well as participating in a 6 over game. The students had the opportunity to hear about Dawid’s journey to become an England Cricket team player and to ask England and Yorkshire Batsman some questions.

Including one from a Year 11 student, ‘‘How do you mentally prepare for big games?’’

Dawid responded with some key advice. ‘’Pressure and scrutiny from the crowd on the day, on social media and in the press can be intense and at times difficult to deal with. It’s important to focus on the task at hand, which is playing cricket to the best of your ability. During games, I find the most effective way to deal with pressure is to focus on my breathing and stay in the moment, keeping all of my focus on the ball that is being played. When you begin to look to far ahead, this can trip you up so remain focused and in the moment.’’.

CTM Sport spoke to Lampton School’s PE teacher, ‘’Today has been an incredible experience for our students to meet a professional cricketer in Dawid. Inspiring the next generation of athletes with advice and the journey into professional sport.’’ and one of the students who participated in the session commented, ‘’It has been a great opportunity to learn from Dawid Malan, he’s my inspiration and motivates me to become a professional cricket player.’’
